Luton is a town of a little over 214 000 in population, situated around 50 kilometers from London. It is an old city with a very long history. There have been traces of population from hundreds of thousands of years back. Luton is the home of one of Britain’s busiest airports and the university of Bedfordshire. Working in Luton gives you the opportunity to live right next to the famous city of London, but to have the benefits of living in a smaller town. It is fairly easy and quick to travel back and forth if needed. The unemployment rate is around 5%, so most of Luton’s population is working.
Some of the free-time activities in Luton include watching local football and attending a huge annual carnival. In addition there are loads of things to see and experience in the area. There is a zoo, some museums, old castles, parks, restaurants and pubs as well as the Hat Factory, which is a popular location for theatre, dance and music.
